Dunkenny Road

Description:
Cernach Housing Association’s new build development at Dunkenny Road in Drumchapel marked the completion of the 10,000th house since the Transfer of the Management of Development Funding to
Glasgow City Council in 2003.

The development also marks the delivery of 376 new homes by Cernach HA and the culmination of the  Association’s development programme. The development at Dunkenny Road includes 22 new homes
for rent incorporating a mix of mainstream rent and supported tenancies.

One of the projects objectives was to integrate Glasgow’s Social Care Housing priorities within the  mainstream housing. A mix of two, three and four bedroom accommodation comprising of semi-detached
houses and cottage flats make up the development replacing previous tenements in poor condition.

The £1.9m development was funded with a £0.975m grant from Glasgow City Council with the balance  coming from private finance and the Association’s own resources. All of the mainstream tenancies were let from the Association’s internal transfer list, allowing the Association to address under-occupancy in their existing stock, with the properties those tenants left behind allocated from their housing list to applicants requiring larger accommodation.
